60 Years of Pepys Estate: What a Palava
18th July - 18th November, 2026
Join us at Pepys Community Hub as we celebrate 60 years of the Pepys Estate. Opening on the 18th of July 2026 with a special event, and running until the 18th of November 2026, as a participatory exhibition including photography, artwork, music and many more contributions from current and former residents. Pepys Community Hub asks what it means to document and remember this place today. Reflecting on the past, present and future, we will examine the changes, struggles, achievements and transformations that have defined the area and its people.

Archived: 7th June - 7th July, 2025
Photography exhibition, installed at The Foreshore Gallery by Douglas Bousquet, documenting the Docklands in 1984 before the development of Canary Wharf, the local Bengali community and London’s remaining post-war slums. Alongside this, there are photos of the local area taken by resident Jan Dunning’s late husband Ian, of Deptford Foreshore, during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee visit.
Green Space Arts Collective

GSAC is a local Art Collective in Deptford whose interests lie with Green Environment and Practices. Their support is addressed through Green Art Projects and local concerns. Based at John Evelyn Garden at Windlass Place in Deptford they actively work towards sustainable green practices. In 2025 they opened the Foreshore Gallery with a special event including free demos of Vegetable Printing, Flower Pounding, Cyanotype, and Mosaic by Sarah Garrod and Shiroma Ratne. A Thames Walk with Malcolm Cadman and Spring Synthesizer music played by Tabby Griffith.

Our Patch is a community quilt celebrating the social fabric of our area. We all arrive in Deptford with rich stories and personal histories. Our Patch seeks to honour and explore the interwoven threads that connect our personal and collective experiences on the Deptford Foreshore. You are invited to share your story by contributing a patch of fabric, image, and/or an accompanying story to the community quilt. Led by the artist Antonia Beard
Remember Windrush
Collaborative collage by the artists Sarah Garrod and Shiroma Ratne together with Malcolm Cadman at the John Evelyn Community Garden.
As part of Windrush 75, in 2023, celebrating 75 Years since Windrush landed in the UK. Descendants coming together to celebrate and remember. The event included a talk by Ken Thomas about the legacies of the Windrush Generation.
The Windrush Foundation
Arthur Torrington CBE is a Guyanese-born community advocate and historian who is Director and co-founder of the London-based Windrush Foundation, a charity that since 1996 has been working to highlight the contributions to the UK of African and Caribbean peoples. Also in 1996, Torrington set up the Equiano Society, with the main objective of celebrating the life and work of Olaudah Equiano (c. 1745–1797), as well as the literary and cultural legacy in Britain of Equiano's African contemporaries.
